Love it! I would definitely want to contribute. I am a big fan of Esquire and feel exactly the same way: why don't we have this for women? I've been looking for something like this, somewhere I could contribute regularly but would still allow me to keep my day job, and where I could be sarcastic, witty and still discuss what matters.
<br>I'm totally in. I'm not big on the designing website part, but count me in for writing, reporting, editing, brainstorming and contributing in any writer-related way I possibly can. You have my twitter and my blog, and feel free to email me at gabrielalessacarvalho at gmail dot com. I'd love to help in any way I can.
<br>And kudos to you for coming up with this! Sounds awesome!

This is a great idea, and I'd love to contribute somehow, whether writing, editing, or web design/coding. As a 20-year-old college senior, my "career" is limited to a few internships, but I'll be going through the job search in the next nine months. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

Hi Jen - thanks for bringing this new site to my attention! It certainly seems like an awesome project and while it's similar to my project in some ways (namely, in its goals) it's very different in method. I'll shoot you an email with some feedback. Let me know what you think - for everyone else, there will be a new post going up on this later this week!

Breaking news: you might want to check out Seth Simonds Real Zest / Women Who Think (<a href="http://realzest.com/" rel="nofollow">http://realzest.com/</a>). It just launched the other day. Maybe this is a close enough fit we can just jump on board? I'm thinking of doing some writing for them, but honestly, I think the demand for this kind of content would likely warrant both an online and offline venue. Wasn't sure which one you were shooting for.<br><br>As for a name, I think one word names are best, two words at most. I kinda liked your Damselfly idea, or something else symbolic of the type of woman you're aiming for. Oblique is better than direct in the case of naming I think.

Hi Jen,

Thanks so much for bringing this site to my attention. It looks like it's a
phenomenal effort and a great project - I spent some time reading through a
few of their articles. I think their are two differences between what they
are doing and what I hope to do.

First, their audience appears to be primarily mothers who are casting off
the idea of motherhood and accepting that they are more than that. It
discusses the idea of motherhood and being a mother (although it an
intelligent and indirect way that differentiates it from a "mommy blog"
pretty clearly). My project will focus on a slightly younger demographic -
while it should apply to mothers, it won't focus on them. Instead it will
focus on issues outside women's immediate lives, in a way that is
relate-able. And second, while the writing may still end up being first
person, I'm hoping the writers will conduct interviews and talk about
experiences other than just those they have personally lived through. Real
Zest (I LOVE LOVE their name) seems to really focus on first person,
personal essay style writing - very blog-like. I want *this* site to be more
magazine-style; to have it's own voice and, while commentary and first-hand
stories will certainly be included, to involve in-depth reporting on issues
of the day as well.

Would love your feedback on all of this - have I done a poor job thus far of
communicating these ideas? Let me know,

Melissa, Melissa, Melissa... your idea sounds like an answer to my prayers! I would also love to be involved in any way needed - brainstorming, writing, testing, editing, you name it. I'd love to talk to you more about this and see where I could help the most! I am forwarding this to a few special gal pals of mine that would appreciate your project, too. megan (dot) atkinson (at) gmail (dot) com or find me on Brazen. I'll "fan" you there.
